Cowboy romance (Natalie Merchant) (LP 3208)

Natalie Merchant  Tigerlilly (CD, Elektra Records, 1995) ***

GenreAlt-pop

Places I remember: Shona Walding's collection

Fab, and all the other pimply hyperboles: I May Know The Word

Gear costume: Jealousy

They loom large in his legend (The Album Collection playlists): Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5

Active compensatory factors: This is her debut album after leaving 10,000 Maniacs (I'm not very familiar with her work with 10,000 Maniacs so I don't know how this compares).

I inherited this copy, and I chose to hang on to it because she sings beautifully, even if the songs are a tad slowish for my taste. They also don't leave much of a lasting impression - for me this is great café music - music for the background, because it's not going to upset anybody.

Where do they all belong? I haven't been especially inspired to check out her previous band but folk-rock is my thing so I just might.
