Road to ruin (Mr. Big) (LP 3303 - 3304)

Mr. Big  Lean Into It (CD, Atlantic Records, 1991) ***

Mr. Big  Bump Ahead (CD, Atlantic Records, 1993) ***

Genre: Rock

Places I remember: Donated from the Hope collection

Fab, and all the other pimply hyperboles: To Be With You (Lean Into It)

Gear costume: Wild World (Bump Ahead)

They loom large in his legend
(The Album Collection playlists): Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5

Active compensatory factors: I kept these two lively albums by Mr. Big - their second and third, because they rock and because I hate throwing music away unnecessarily.

I don't know much about them, and I'm not much of a nineties fan. I couldn't name any members (now that I look at the cover Billy Sheehan on bass rings a bell) but I see that they recorded four albums before things began to unwind with members leaving. They certainly were a big hair band!

Apparently, they were big in Japan, and I get that, as they sound a lot like a rockier version of Cheap Trick on Lean Into It. Bump Ahead aims to expand the sound - opening song Colorado Bulldog is almost jazz fusion. The album is certainly nineties rock slick, if that's your bag daddio.

Where do they all belong? Not destined for repeat plays but I'll continue to hang on to them.
