Active compensatory factors: I guess this is country rock (he's a little bit like Israel Nash) but it blurs the boundaries. Maybe singer-songwriter is better. He also reminds me at times of David Gray, so maybe alt-folk?

Whatever the genre, Dan is an excellent, emotive, big singer who writes catchy songs - mostly about relationships and love (a bit like David Gray and Israel Nash).
This was his debut album, wherein he plays guitar, sings and writes his own songs. So, singer-songwriter it is.
Where do they all belong? A catchy album that grows on me.
